Der 8-jährige Yousef und seine Mutter Sahar sind die letzten übrig gebliebenen palästinensischen Bewohner eines verlassenen Gebäudes in der israelisch kontrollierten Zone von Hebron. „Das Haus der Stummen“, so nennen die dort stationierten Soldaten und die Reiseführer der Stadt das Zuhause der beiden, obwohl Sahar taub, nicht stumm ist. Tamar Kay begleitet den aufgeweckten Yousef durch seine Stadt und eröffnet einen sehr intimen Einblick in den Alltag eines Ortes, der sich immer wieder im Spannungsfeld des Konfliktes wiederfindet.

 

/ 8-year old Yousef and his mother Sahar are the last Palestinian residents left of a deserted apartment building in the Israeli-controlled zone of Hebron. „The Mute’s House“ is what the soldiers stationed there and the tour guides call the building where mother and son live in, although Sahar is deaf, not mute. Tamar Kay follows the charismatic Youssef around his city and lets him provide us with an intimate look on the everyday life of a place that time after time gets thrown into the centre of the conflict.
